Master's Graduate Programs
All graduate degree programs begin in the fall term. The Application for Graduate Admission used by all graduate programs at MIT must be completed online or downloaded and sent to the MIT Department of Architecture by December 15. It is the responsibility of the applicant to be sure that the department receives a completed application and all supporting materials on time. Applicants will be notified of missing application materials via email approximately three weeks after the admission deadline.
Students interested in applying to more than one degree program must submit a separate application and fee to each department and/or degree program.
Please submit the following along with the MIT Application for Graduate Admission to the Department of Architecture:
- Financial Statement
- MIT Biographical Data
- International Student Data
- Official transcripts for each undergraduate and graduate institution attended
- Scores from required tests (i.e. GRE, TOEFL)
- A Statement of Objectives describing your personal interest, background and motivation for the study of architecture. If applying to more than one program, complete a separate statement for each.
- Three letters of recommendation from teachers, professionals or others who know your work
- Nonrefundable application fee. Payment should be made by check or money order in US currency, payable to the MIT Admissions Office. Online applicants can pay by debit/credit card or check (US bank accounts only).
In addition, MArch, SMArchS and SMVisS applicants must submit a portfolio. PhD applicants much submit research and writing samples.
